Potential Engineers (Pvt.) Ltd. was founded in 1976 by the present Chief Executive and Chairman of the Company Engr. M. Saeed Shamsi
Potential Engineers started as Sub-Contractors to Two Big National Construction Companies, who were at that Time Engaged in the Installation of 500kV Transmission Line, from Tarbela Power Station to Faisalabad, a Distance of Approximately 300 K.M. Tarbella Power Station in the North, the Biggest Power Generating facility in the Country, was Built in 1976-77 on One of the Largest Earthen Dams in the World, with an Initial Output of 2100 M.W. Which Over the Years has gone above 5000 M.W. It was therefore necessary to Transmit Extra High Voltage Generated, to Long Distances Spreading Over Thousands of Kilometers, by putting up a well defined Network of Transmission Lines across the Country. Resultantly, many Projects came up and Potential Engineers Got the Opportunity to Enter in the Field of Construction of Extra High Voltage Transmission Lines and Related Distribution Network. With the passage of time Potential Engineers were pre-Qualified as Prime Contractors for the Construction of Transmission Lines, Sub-Stations and Related Switchgear with Pakistan Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA), an Organization Owned by the Government of Pakistan, responsible for Power Generation in the country. Potential Engineers (Pvt.) Ltd. Over the Years have Successfully Installed a Number of 500 KV, 220 KV and 132 KV Transmission Lines and Sub-Stations for WAPDA and Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the Second Largest Power Producing Facility in Pakistan based at Karachi. Thus Potential Engineers have Emerged as a Dependable Company, not confined to Power Projects only, but also to handle High Tech Equipment and State of the art Technology. Potential Engineers (Pvt.) Ltd. have on their pay Role more than 300 Employees that include General Managers, Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen and other Technical Staff. The Organization is Fully Geared to Handle Projects of any Type, Size and Magnitude.
In 1988, the company established a Trading House, operating under the names of Contracts, Trade & Services Limited and Potential Engineers Trading Division.
The main focus of activity of the Trading Division is to supply parts and equipment required for Power Generation, Power Transmission, Distribution Network, Telecommunication and Electro-Medical Equipment.
The Trading Division also undertakes supplies of KWH Metres for Domestic consumer connections, Industrial metres, Grid Station metres and Power Plant metres. The division also specializes in Test Equipment, Measurement Instrumentations and has supplied, installed, tested and commissioned 0.2 Class Metre System with microprocessor based technology, in order to measure out flow of energy to the main Power System of Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) from any independent power generating plant or source.
The Trading Division has a worldwide access to renowned manufacturers and suppliers and constantly remains on the lookout for new business contacts and opportunities.
Two production units were put up by Potential Engineers to produce Pre-stressed Cement Concrete Poles of various sizes used as supports for Distribution Transmission Lines by the Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC).
The first plant was put up in 1978 at Lodhran, District Multan, spread over an area of approx. 30 acres with a capacity to produce 15000 poles annually and the other in 1989 at Sadiqabad, District Rahim Yar Khan, which covers an area of approx. 14 acres geared to produce 20000 poles per annum. These poles are made by Long Line Pre-tensioning Technique with steam curing, to achieve 8 hours strength of 4000 psi and 28 days strength of 6000 psi.
Potential Engineers also provides Industrial Consultancy for small and medium size engineering units in association with specialized consultants. The service includes project planning, design, construction, installation, supervision, production monitoring and setting up of effective management and inventory control system.
